The Zombies cocktail can be traced back to the 1930s. It was created by Donn Beach, also known as Don the Beachcomber, who owned a string of Tiki-themed bars in the United States. The original recipe for the Zombies cocktail was kept a closely guarded secret, but it is known to have contained several types of rum, lime juice, and a mix of tropical fruit juices, syrups and spices. It was considered one of the most potent cocktails of its time, and was often limited to one per customer. The Zombies Cocktail became popular in the Tiki culture and also in the mainstream during the 1940s and 1950s, but it popularity waned in the following decades. It has seen a resurgence in recent years, with many bars and mixologists revisiting the classic recipe and experimenting with new variations.
